4C Association

The 4C Association is a global platform that brings together stakeholders in the coffee sector to address sustainability issues in a pre-competitive manner. The 4C entry-level standard comprises 28 social, environmental and economic principles for the sustainable production, processing and trading of green coffee.

Efico is founding member of the Association and part of the Technical Committee on Climate Change.

EU/European Commission

This standard focuses on the production and processing of agricultural products that provide assurance of adherence to organic standards. Organic products come from farmers that do not use chemical products or pesticides. Recognized audit organizations control compliance with the organic standards. Those are different per country.

Fairtrade Labelling

(FLO) 

FLO is a group of 24 organizations working to secure a better deal for producers.

The Fairtrade label enables consumers to recognize products that are manufactured under good conditions. It ensures that producers in the South receive a minimum price for their products, allowing them to work in a sustainable way.

Rainforest Alliance

The Rainforest Alliance works to conserve biodiversity and ensures sustainable livelihoods by transforming land-use practices, business practices and consumer behavior. The audit process contains social and environmental criteria, led by Sustainable Agriculture Network (SAN).

UTZ CERTIFIED

UTZ means “good” in a Maya language. UTZ CERTIFIED  is a worldwide certification program that sets the standard for responsible coffee production and sourcing. The UTZ CERTIFIED program provides the assurance of responsible coffee production, sourcing and traceability of the final product, described in the UTZ Code of Conduct.
